My students beg me to play on Kerpoof.com. BEG, I say! I’ve been promising them a fun activity after testing, so this week I let them have at it. It had been about a year since I’d explored the site, so I was surprised to see a new activity called Spell a Picture. Choose a background, starting spelling a word, and watch the pictures appear! You can also print the finished picture that includes the words that were spelled. Love this!

Sight Words with Samson is a wonderful site to learn and practice sight words. There are 4 sections: Learn Words, Build Words, Identify Words, Quiz. Below is a Build Words activity. You can choose your list and level with each section. This activity works great on the SMART Board! Give it a try!

Check out SpellingConnectionsOnline.com by Zaner-Bloser. This site goes with the company’s Spelling Connections program; however, anyone can use this site! There are several games and activities, and most work well on the SMART Board with the exception of a few the require keyboard entry (but those are great, too!). There are many different levels and units within each game as well. Below is one of the Complete the Sentence activities.

SpinandSpell.com is a wonderful spelling interactive game for the SMART Board. There are five different picture/word banks to choose from: In and Around the Home, What We Wear, What We Eat, How We Get There, and The Animal Kingdom. Choose a category and click on a picture (or “Show me the Word”) to hear the word spoken aloud. Click or touch the first letter of the word, the wheel will spin, and your letter will appear below. Continue until the word is spelled and click Submit to see if it was spelled correctly. This is great for all ages because the difficulty varies based on the picture/word chosen. Have fun!
