Super Science World is an awesome website with tons of Science activities on a variety of topics ranging from cells to atoms to circuits. All of the activities are free and have a number of levels for each game. Choose a character and answer the questions to try and beat your opponent and earn a star! Also check out Super Maths World for some of the free sample activities available.

Hello readers! I’m sorry I’ve left you for so long. Things are starting to calm down a little in our second month of school, so get ready for more Goodies! Let’s start with Estimate and Measure with Chef Pierre from Compass Learning Odyssey. This is a great activity for K-1. Estimate how many cinnamon rolls each pan will hold, then measure to see if you are correct!

I was inspired by something I saw today using the old “drag and drop” trick at our District SMART Board Workshop. I put on my thinking cap and created a piggy bank drop file for your students to use to count out coins. Make sure you turn up the volume to hear the coins actually fall into the piggy bank! GCFLearnFree.org is a website supported by the Goodwill Community Foundation, Inc. that offers free tutorials and activities in the categories of technology, literacy, and math. The Computers section is fabulous for learning about any of the Microsoft Office products, as well as computer and internet basics.  The Reading and Math sections offer tutorials and activities as well, and many work great on the SMART Board. Below is one of the literacy fill in the blank activities, and make sure to check out the Count Change activity!

Happy Monday! I love this coordinate grid game! Guide the Billy Bug to the correct coordinates on the grid to find the grub. There are two versions: 0-10 and 0-5. Have fun!

Thinking Blocks is a website that instructs students and models for them how to solve word problems using interactive manipulatives. There are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division word problems (found in the Try It section).  There are also instructional videos that models how to solve the word problems (found in the Model It section). This site would be great to use whole group on the SMART Board! Enjoy!

Under the Sea is a FABULOUS interactive resource for practicing a variety of math skills from counting money to place value to fractions. This site is very engaging and would work great on the SMART Board. Below is a screen shot of the Comparing and Ordering Numbers activity. Enjoy!

MathNook.com has some great interactive activities that you should check out. Be aware of the ads on the sides and  bottom of the site. You could always use the spotlight tool to only show the game and block out the ads or use the Flash Game Maximizer add-on for Firefox! Below is the Counting Money game.

FactDash is an activity shared with me by a parent volunteer and it is fabulous! It includes practice for addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication at various levels, and it works great on the SMART Board. Check it out! Happy Friday!

Farmer Fred’s Pumpkin Patch is a nice interactive game from Multiplication.com. I saw one of my students playing it this morning and thought it would be perfect to share with you on this beautiful October Friday. Simply click on the plot to plant your seed, water it, then harvest it- all while practicing your multiplication tables (1 to 12). Have fun!
