My students beg me to play on Kerpoof.com. BEG, I say! I’ve been promising them a fun activity after testing, so this week I let them have at it. It had been about a year since I’d explored the site, so I was surprised to see a new activity called Spell a Picture. Choose a background, starting spelling a word, and watch the pictures appear! You can also print the finished picture that includes the words that were spelled. Love this!

Big BrownBear.co.uk offers a nice range of literacy interactives that can be used on the SMART Board or any other interactive whiteboard. Topics include prefixes, suffixes, phonemes, as well as a few others. I’d like to share with you the Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives activity. The object is to find five words to launch the rocket. From the site: “Drag the correct type of word into the box to countdown the launch. Find five words out of a mixture of fifteen. The words are randomly selected from a list 90 words.” The only downside is that there appears to be no sounds on any of the activities. Still a great selection!

I guess you can tell I’m really into these word/fridge magnets! I found these while browsing the http://elementary-technology.com blog. This interactive is offered by MagPo.com (MAGnetic POetry) on their Kids’ Poetry Page. There are several different word kits (or word banks) to choose from, such as the Kids Kit, First Words, Best Friends, and Storymaker. Each kit contains words related to the kit title, and these words can be placed on a variety of backgrounds to create poems, stories, or sentences. The creation can be saved and sent to up to 3 people via e-mail. For more magnets, please see my previous posts. Below is a screenshot of the Kids Kit.
