What a fabulous site to learn about butterflies! There are several quiz activities, a field observation activity where you identify the parts of a butterfly, and a section where you can also build your own butterfly habitat! This would be a great extension to a lesson on butterfly life cycles. Enjoy!

Hams Hall Pond is a wonderful interactive site for teaching students about life cycles, food chains, and the variation and classification of living things in their environments. See a virtual pond and learn about its inhabitants, complete drag and drop activities on the life cycle of a frog or butterfly, and more. Check it out!

Learningmedia.co.nz has 8 interactive resources for students that include science, literacy, and math topics. The one I’d like to highlight is Flitting with Fractions. Flitting with Fractions is a great way to show students how fractions work. You will be asked a question, such as “Catch all of the butterflies with long legs.” Then, simply drag the correct butterflies to the top of the jar and release them. Close the lid, then enter the correct numerator and denominator by touching the numbers. You can then check your answer and move to the next problem. This is also a multi-lingual game! Check it out.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great holiday. I know I did! Here is something to start off your Monday. Mightybook.com is one of my favorite sites for PreK-1st grade children. It is a subscription based website, but there are some activities offered for free. On Mightybook.com, children can listen to music, read e-books, put together puzzles, listen to jokes, and more. Most of these activities work well on the SMART Board. Check them out! Here is a preview of the Metamorphosis story song.
