Arbor Day is April 29th. There are some great resources out there for you to use with your students, including the interactives found at arborday.org. Pictured below is The Life of a Tree, which gives information about the growth of trees and how the rings in the trunk tell the tree’s age. Kerpoof Spell a Picture

My students beg me to play on Kerpoof.com. BEG, I say! I’ve been promising them a fun activity after testing, so this week I let them have at it. It had been about a year since I’d explored the site, so I was surprised to see a new activity called Spell a Picture. Choose a background, starting spelling a word, and watch the pictures appear! You can also print the finished picture that includes the words that were spelled. Love this! :)

The Children’s University of Manchester

The Children’s University of Manchester is an awesome site for learning about a variety of topics. They include the Body and Medicines, Energy and the Environment, Ancient Egypt, and more! Below is an interactive game from the Words category called Match the Eponyms. You will love what this site has to offer!

GCFLearnFree.org is a website supported by the Goodwill Community Foundation, Inc. that offers free tutorials and activities in the categories of technology, literacy, and math. The Computers section is fabulous for learning about any of the Microsoft Office products, as well as computer and internet basics.  The Reading and Math sections offer tutorials and activities as well, and many work great on the SMART Board. Below is one of the literacy fill in the blank activities, and make sure to check out the Count Change activity!
