It’s great to be back at work after a much-needed holiday which included a rare snow day, Presidents Day, and Mardi Gras break. It was great having some time off to watch the Olympics as well! So keeping in the Olympic spirit, I thought I’d share some related activities with you. Here’s one I ran across called The Award Ceremony which can be found at http://www.mathsonline.co.uk. In this activity, students choose an Olympic event, then sort the event results into order. You can choose the difficulty by clicking on the options at the bottom of the home screen. Make sure you read the directions for sorting each event, since it could require ordering the scores greatest to least or least to greatest. Click “Award Medals” once the numbers have been sorted to check your answers. If the answers are correct, the award ceremony will begin. Check it out!

Thanks for sharing this resource, Amber. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it in my maths class. Lots of different aspects of number knowledge covered and a context most students can relate to easily.

Keeep up the great work on your blog!

Best wishes,

Paul
